The Head and Neck Cancer UK Coalition is working with NHS England as part of their Oropharyngeal and Oral Cavity patient pathway reviews. This is aiming to address the rising proportion of patients being diagnosed with late stage cancer and to identify opportunities for earlier diagnosis. The Tumour Site Reviews were recommended by the NHS Cancer Programme’s Early Detection and Screening Task and Finish Group.
By working together it is hoped that we will identify what we are currently missing in this area. These are fact finding missions to produce practical recommendations for the Cancer Programme and/or wider system to consider for implementation, rather than an academic literature review.
Each Tumour Site Review is reviewed by the Early Detection and Screening Task and Finish Group, the NHS Cancer Programme’s Clinical Advisory Group and undergoes external fact-checking through Cancer Research UK.
Head and Neck Cancer Coalition UK is very happy that light is finally being shone on Oropharyngeal and Oral Cancers and we are delighted to be working as part of this programme of work.
